Composer, performer and multi-instrumentalist Doug Brown has appeared at major music festivals in North America and Europe including the Cork Jazz Festival (Ireland), the Zelt Musik Festival (Germany), the Winnipeg Folk Music Festival(Canada) and the Festival of American Music at the Barbican Centre in London, England.  See more..

Tom Waselchuk & Doug Brown get together to play guitar. Jazz, bluegrass, folk music, gypsy swing, pop - The genre doesn’t matter. When musicians share a common language, a long history and a desire to explore, experiment, improvise and communicate, the conversation is always interesting and joyful!

Chris Powers & Doug Brown

Chris Powers, a native of Philadelphia, PA, picked up the guitar at the age of 14, and after graduating from Beloit College, he settled in Madison and began organizing a series of successful string bands, including the string-jazz trio Nobody’s Bizness and the long-lived Bluegrass Survivors. He toured Wisconsin for many years with the UW-Extension’s Heritage Ensemble – mixing folk music with American History, and played guitar in the orchestra of several Madison Theater productions. He developed and teaches group adult guitar courses with themes like “Jazz Chords and Swing”, “Fingerstyle Blues” and  “Bill Monroe Bluegrass Ensemble”.

Gaines and Wagoner have been the recipients of several WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) nominations and awards over the years for their work with Harmonious Wail and The Common Faces, and several recent MAMAs (Madison Area Music Awards) for String Player of the Year (Violin and Cello), Specialty Instrument (Lapsteel), Best Male and Female Vocalist, and a Lifetime Career Achievement Award. as well as session work on numerous recordings that have received MAMAs for Album of the Year (Harmonious Wail, Graminy, Beth Kille, Mark Croft, The Moon Gypsies). http://www.gainesandwagoner.com/
